Fortunately, Unfortunately

Remember that book from when you were a kid? If it was written about my life today, it would go something like this...

Fortunately, I've been doing a lot of walking lately.

Unfortunately, it's because my tires were stolen.

Fortunately, tomorrow is pay day.

Unfortunately, all of that money will go to my first mortgage payment.

Fortunately, I picked out the couches for my living room.

Unfortunately, since I had them customized, they may take up to 8 weeks to be delivered and thus I have to watch tv either standing or sitting on the floor.

You get the idea.

Turned 29 last week. Ew. For some reason this sound sooo much older than 28, which I think has such a nice roundness to it.  Anyway, I didn't focus too much on it as #1, I was sick, and #2, I have much nicer things to occupy my thoughts, such as finally closing on my apartment!

On the phone w/ sales rep who was working from home:

Me: OK so I'll run this by the client and let you know if they're interested. [long pause] Hello?

Rep: Sorry, my 2-year old just walked by and let out the loudest burp I've ever heard!

Me: Oh... ha ha...

Rep: Oh my God that was so disgusting!


She laughed for a good MINUTE before getting back to the point. What is wrong with this woman?! Next time she calls me I'll just start laughing obnoxiously and eventually explain that my cat just peed on my bed.

Hot Tranny Mess

I can no longer be in public with my hair looking so root-y and repulsive. However, with the impending home purchase, I also can no longer justify spending $230 on highlights.  Just returned from CVS with Clairol's Natural Instinct 03G Honey Crème (Rich Light Golden Blonde), for the modest price of $5.99 (had a coupon, woo!). This color seems to be exactly what I always try to describe to my colorist but have failed to do so thus far. We'll see how it goes tonight.

Royal Ronaldina

Mimzy and I braved the cold and did a little downtown shopping today. Naturally, the topic of William & Kate came up, as it tends to do with us. I got to thinking about those replicas they're doing of Kate's ring and decided I really need one. So, even though I have one just like it in amethyst, I had to order it.

Other items purchased today:
-black leather snow boots with faux fur lining (soooo cozy)
-green cardigan (Mimzy picked it for me)
-Mad Men-esque dress - nipped at the waist, full skirt, fabulous in general. Someone have a party so I can wear it. With black patent leather pumps of course. And my ring!

So far, so good

Happy New Year!!

I rang in 2011 by drinking too much champagne, kissing a tall, dark and handsome fellow and laughing my head off with friends old and new. Tres tres fun. Now that I've gotten that debauchery out of my system, Cece, Colin & I are starting a Biggest Loser-esque contest. Instead of having that horrific "woman" Jillian Michaels bellowing at us, howevz, we'll be motivated by one another's rewards and our desire to avoid same. For example, if Colin wins, we have to go to the Intrepid with him. Torture. Stay tuned...

In other news, I finally watched An Education today and immediately downloaded the soundtrack post-viewing. Highly recommend both!!
